Adelaide & Meath Hospital, Dublin (aka, Tallaght Hospital) acquired a new TOSHIBA Aquilion Prime CT System, Ireland’s first 160 slice CT. The sophisticated new CT will maintain the hospital’s CT capabilities at the leading edge of imaging and treatment for many years to come.

The Sky Factory’s Luminous SkyCeiling installed over the Aquilion CT promotes biophilic engagement (relaxation response promoted by sensory contact with nature) and enhanced comfort throughout the CT examination. It has proved very popular with patients.

Dublin newspaper, The Echo, reported that consultant radiologist Dr. Orla Buckley explained the value of the Luminous SkyCeiling in alleviating stress, “A typical MRI or CT scan can be a stressful experience for patients.

“A relaxed patient is more receptive and therefore they are more responsive to treatment.

“Patients can often feel claustrophobic when undergoing this type of test, but the new scanner at Tallaght Hospital will reduce the need for some patients requiring sedation prior to scans.”
